Trump’s New TV Show: “Crazy 40”
What has happened to Americans? Are we really what we’re seeing on the Internet and the news? Has the rest of the world written us off? Well, we can’t really answer that. Americans aren’t allowed in the rest of the world.
This past weekend was another couple of days of action by Americans that, unfortunately, is transitioning into the new norm. Considering all the examples that are monopolizing the news, I’m beginning to wonder if American’s behavior towards race and the threat of death from COVID-19 are examples that at least 40% of us are crazy.
It’s almost like this 40% of Americans have been changed somehow, and they are starring in a reality TV show based on the movie, THE CRAZIES. You remember that one, right?
Every day is a new episode, and free of charge on the Internet. In fact, this show has already determined its breakout star. It is a woman named Karen, and she’s everywhere.

Well, I caught more episodes this weekend, but I noticed it’s not so funny to me anymore. For us old folks, it’s like what happened to M*A*S*H, the TV show. In the last few seasons, M*A*S*H got way too serious and stopped being funny. The continual behavior of Americans spouting Qanon theories, refusing to wear masks and ignoring social distancing now resemble a type of theology, and that is serious. That kind of warped faith in past years began involving bomb-belts.
I can’t follow the plotline.
How can Americans trust a six-time bankrupt, failed steak entrepreneur, scam-university owner, Russian bounties on American soldiers ignorer, like Donald Trump? He believes COVID-19 is going to just disappear! Trump thinks he’s the “David Copperfield of Destruction!” (my apologies David).
You mean Forty percent of America believes Trump over Dr.Fauci,” America’s Doctor?” Dr. Fauci, the presidential advisor of six different Presidents and the AIDS epidemic?
As NEW YORKER writer Michael Specter stated of Dr. Fauci:
“During the height of the AIDS epidemic, Fauci worked with activists to amend the way the government handles clinical drug trials. The policy shift increased the number of patients who had access to experimental HIV/AIDS treatments — and saved countless lives.”
Is it me, or is that a lot more impressive than being the star of a reality TV show or special appearance in HOME ALONE 2? But you have to admit, the performances from this 40% of Americans are quite convincing. Let’s play a clip.
You could blame the insane behavior on COVID-19, but the 40% started this craziness years ago as Trump’s preview of his presidency revealed. Here’s a little bit of that preview just to jog your memory.
Okay. We’ve gone from the ridiculing of war heroes to the ridiculousness of Americans believing Trump’s every tweet.
The COVID-19 arc of this comedy-turned-tragedy is quite a plot twist among the many so far. And the plot device of NOT wearing masks to save lives because they are part of a satanic plot against America? Who saw that coming? But then, who thought Trump could begin turning America into a dystopia? Does he even know what means?
In the end, sometimes the entertainment industry gets ahead of the curve, and correctly predicts the future. This was true of Kubrik’s 2001:A SPACE ODYSSEY. It’s too bad Trump doesn’t have the time between tweets to still star in THE APPRENTICE. It would be great for us and the country to have heard it said of himself in November:
