I AM MY PHONE
I am my phone. It occurred to me while I was on the treadmill this moirning. And the reasons make sense. My phone is with me all the time. My phone helps me get to where I need to go, but there’s that occasional wrong chosen. I answer questions, cook dinner, I even decide what to wear by using my phone. There’s now like a giant USB port in my head and I just plug my phone in and it does the rest. But there are other similarities.
One similarity is my phone is like part of my body. It’s like a body part, you use your fingers to pick up something and you didn’t even java tto think about it. It just comes natural. I have a question, or some kind of need, I use my phone to answer it, it’s just what I do.
Another similarity is that when I go to reach for the phone out of my backpocket, it isn’t there! I panic! More than often I spend my day looking for my phone. And since 2020 and the Pandemic, I’ve been doing that more and more. I’ll look for it first because my nature is that I should try to find it myself.
So down the rabbit hole I go needlessly pulling apart a room, car, and anywhere I thought I was at, using my time to find my phone. But I never think about the help I could get if I just picked up my IPAD sitting right in front of me. I just used the FIND MY IPHONE app, a bell would go off and I’d find my phone without all the hassle.
It’s like my life. Since the Pandemic and losing my job, I’ve been panicked running around looking everywhere for a solution to fill that time and a job. Whereas now I realize, like my Ipad, the resources have been in front of me the entire time. Those lifelines have been the two most important reasons you are reading this today. Its the two “P’s,” people and perspective. I needed to network, and get out of fearful isolation. I needed to realize that I am a good writer and video producer. So, how do I let the rest of the employing-world know this? I’m getting out there and talking to professionals in my industry and through them finding the ways to get noticed.
Nothing runs without power. When I see the “low power” sign come up, I know I need to find an outlet somewhere or my phone is going to die. However, it can’t be just any power outlet, it’s got to be the regular kind or I’m going to damage my phone. Regular plugs are everywhere; it shouldn’t be a problem getting a charge and getting power for my phone. However, these past two years, I haven’t cared where I plugged into. I needed my phone, the wrong plug fired it up, and I had GPS to get me where I needed to go. But not using the right outlet I noticed has damaged me. I’ve been using the wrong place to charge over these last two years, and now I am seeing the difference.
I got a lot of months left on my phone contract. Sure, I could go down and pay the money for a new one. I don’t have that money, so I have to make do for the time being. The important thing is I realized what I was doing. I realized that I have to use the right outlets to power my phone for the day. And since they are everywhere, I’m taking advantage of it. I know too that I have to accept the damage done.
This morning I was at full charge. Since I was going to a side of town I wasn’t familiar with, I used my GPS to go to the Starbucks that was near where I was going. My GPS took me to the wrong Starbucks. I got to the place later than I should’ve. But I had my Americano with me.
