Comfort Is Complacency

Right now, I have been fortunate enough to be allowed to do the podcast “UnScripted,”(https://www.blogtalkradio.com/bunekeradio/2022/02/04/unscripted) for bUneke magazine(https://www.bUneke.org), a source for positive living and profiles of everyday people working to change the world.

When hosting “UnScripted” was offered to me, I knew nothing about podcasting. I faked it, and I made it.

Just because you reach a position “out of the box” that you strive for doesn’t guarantee smooth sailing. Now that I am on the water, it’s sink or swim.

That is why I am spending hours gathering information, watching videos, and doing my homework.

Last week it was reported that America passed the one million mark in podcasts. That number may sound like a lot, but it’s not so much in the grand scheme of things like the number of YOUTUBE channels.

At this moment, there is plenty of room to grow in the podcasting world. Although I don’t have any skills whatsoever in the agricultural arts, I still know enough that they die if you don’t give plants water. And workin’ and learnin’ are just that.

I feel it is necessary to provide a “shout out” to YOU TUBER, Pat Flynn, whose advice and practical instruction have made the podcasting world a lot friendlier.

I’m also learning through my guests more about the world. Being exposed to those ideas is food for thought and, more importantly, perspective. Broadening perspective has lead to making educated decisions in my life.

This should be the end all be of what I want to do, right?

Comfort is complacency. There’s nothing wrong with reaching a point where you’re comfortable in where you’re at. But if you want to do more and ignore that impulse, you not only cheat yourself out of living a better life, but you also cheat the world out of not making your distinct impact. I want to do more. I want to be full time writer and video producer.

I’m going to do more. But right now, I know what I am doing “UnScripted” may not change the world as a whole, but it’s changed my world, and that is where I live.
